Current Behavior:
In apps that use a parent form with a Record Link (lookup database of existing records), users search for an existing record by scanning a barcode.
When a barcode match is found:
  • The matched record is automatically added to the parent form.
  • However, the record form does not open.
  • The user must manually tap the matched record.
  • The record form then opens.
  • The user reviews/updates the record and clicks Save.
Because the record does not automatically open, some users are unintentionally skipping the review/update step. This has resulted in incomplete verifications and potential audit/reconciliation issues.
Request:
When a user scans a barcode in a Record Link field and a match is found, the matched record’s form should automatically open.
This would
  • Require the user to review the record details
  • Allow them to make any necessary updates
  • Ensure they explicitly click Save before returning to the parent form
Business Impact / Justification:
  • Reduces clicks and streamlines workflow
  • Forces record review, reducing user error
  • Improves data integrity and audit compliance
  • Increases efficiency for users processing hundreds of records per day
  • Minimizes risk of incomplete reconciliation
This enhancement would significantly improve workflow efficiency and reduce audit risk across high-volume use cases.
