New: Geometry Type Controls

We've launched Geometry Type Controls, giving you precise control over the spatial data collected in your apps. This update replaces the broad "Advanced Geometry" setting with explicit selection of Point, Line, and Polygon features.
Geometry Type Controls
What This Means for Data Collection:
  • Improved Data Quality:
You can now lock an app to a single geometry type (e.g., Lines only for mapping power lines), preventing users from collecting incorrect data and guaranteeing compatibility with single-geometry GIS layers.
  • Streamlined Field Work:
The mobile app is smarter! It dynamically updates the geometry picker to only show the types you've allowed, simplifying the field experience and speeding up data collection.
  • Greater Control:
You can specify exactly which combination of Point, Line, and Polygon features are supported for your form.
Key Behavior Notes:
  • If you select a Line or Polygon geometry, the map view on both mobile and web will automatically switch to the Esri map engine to support drawing those features.
  • If you change your app's geometry settings, pre-existing records with unsupported geometries will trigger a warning, requiring the user to clear the old geometry before saving any edits to the location.
For complete details and configuration instructions, see the updated documentation here.
Enhancements & Fixes:
  • Fixed error that occurred when clicking on section fields within repeatable records, ensuring smooth navigation and editing
  • Resolved issue where polygon geometry incorrectly displayed as points in Record Editor when form settings were changed
  • Fixed API token usage tracking so “Last Used” field correctly updates when tokens are used with integrations like Power BI and Excel
Note: For more information on updates, including those to our Android and iOS apps, please check out our full changelog.
Enhancements & Fixes:
  • Fixed issue where Query API failed to extract EXIF data from photos
  • Resolved problem where custom API expiration date could only be selected once in the token management interface
